Tell us a little about your piece?

The letter V is a very simple shape and I was keen to keep my piece quite similar regarding the simplicity. I first started scribbling thumbnails of different ideas, things the letter V stood for and what the three colours chosen represented. Rather than narrowing down a particular meaning, I wanted to use this opportunity to experiment with the colours and different shapes that could be made with the paper I was working with. I'm very happy with how my piece turned out and how the different shapes form shadows creating the illusion of different shades of paper being used.

What was the most challenging part of the brief?

The designated colours seemed a little daunting at first as I tend to use a much more neutral colour palette throughout my designs. I was unsure of how to make the most of these beautiful, bright, contrasting colours. After taking some time researching each colour I soon came up with a mixture of ideas from tropical, citrus fruits to tessellating patterns.

What part of the brief did you enjoy the most?

How open the brief was, although we were limited to use just three colours, there were very little restrictions as to how the end result should appear. Given that each artist had to represent a different letter of the alphabet meant that although we were all working on our individual designs, they would eventually become part of a much bigger picture! A fab idea for a collaboration project that I’m proud to have been part of!

How did you enjoy working with Senses Paper?

I really enjoyed working with the different textures, I tend to use either hammered or weaved paper so it was nice to work with a much smoother, durable material. The 250gsm cut beautifully and was very easy to use for 3D paper sculpting.
