"My tweezers, nail scissors, cutting mat, glue and scalpel- without them I’m nothing! "
Where do you make your paper Art?
I make all my pieces in my studio in Hove, UK.
How long have you been working with paper?
I've been working with paper for approximately 8 years, but full time for one year.
How would you describe your approach to paper art?
Every time I create a new piece of work I try to think of ways I can push the techniques or style, experimenting with paper stocks, lighting or design. I love contrast and detail, texture is definitely my thing!
Where do you find inspiration?
I find most of my inspiration comes from the beauty and details in nature and creative industries such as fashion, art and music. My favourite projects are when I get to try and fuse them together..
Describe your work to us in 3 words?
Textural, colourful, playful.
What are your favourite papers to work with?
Up until now I've been using colourful slightly textured paper, but I really want to start working with metallics and coloured vellum!!
What tools could you not live without?
My tweezers, nail scissors, cutting mat, glue and scalpel- without them I’m nothing!
What is the best thing about working with paper as a medium?
It’s peaceful and calm, you have to be really focused and concentrate but also kind of zoned out at the same time - it’s a weird meditative state which is really therapeutic. Hours can pass by and I don’t notice them.
Who are your favourite paper artists?
Oo this is a tricky one, the paper artist collective has so many talented artists! If I’m pushed I guess my favourite paper artists are Yulia Brodskaya and Crystal Wagner.
What are you working on at the moment?
I’m currently working on 3 Paper birds for a lovely client in London and a commercial job for The British Heart Foundation.
